I Bet You Can't . . .
Suggesting a test case to challenge a system’s capabilities can be fun. But, a suggestion must be a good one. We recommend that the following guide lines be followed in proposing a test.
Step 1: Describe in detail a real-life scenario that is an example of the test case. The real-life example helps keep the test real. You should specify any factors that might affect the behavior of the system and the conduct of the test case. Make sure that you have specified what you think might be the desired outcome, that is, what the system should be capable of doing.
Step2: Provide a list of all of the specific actions you think the test staff should perform. How do you envision the test being conducted. There may be grey areas that you not sure of and say that. But, the better you define the expectation for the test, the better job we can do working with it.
Step 3: Propose how you think the test should be scored. A test may measure multiple criteria and these should be listed along with what you think is the right grading scale for each such item. Then let us know how you propose to compile the results and calculate a final score. Note: In today’s world testing is rarely pass-fail. Most testing authorities like to establish grading scales that exposed the real capabilities of products and report the detailed results so the users may make a better, informed judgment about the applicability of a produce to their purposes.
LAST STEP: Let us know who you are so we can contact you and get clarifications if we don’t understand what you mean. Your name, organization, e-mail address and telephone number should be provided.
