Shared Resources
The Laboratory is organized according to a model for integrated systems that has been reviewed and recognized by the industry as a powerful approach to supporting how systems should evolve in an information technology driven world.
A core concept of that model is that of sharing the infrastructure resources of the Enterprise while providing the required system capabilities. When infrastructure is truly shared, products are then defined by the software that makes them work. Enterprise solutions become collections of software modules performing roles as needed to create successful systems.
These pages describe the shared resources of the laboratory. These resources include the Computing Resources that support the applications software of the Laboratory, the Network and Other Communications resources that support the Laboratory, and the Data Resources that provide context and support information needed to operate the systems of the Laboratory. |
