DESCRIPTION
System Administration and Installation Training is a 5-day course designed for those individuals tasked with installing and/or maintaining an EnterpriseSMS system. The course includes pre-class exercises, daily
assessments, and a final certification examination, preparing users for the task of installing and/or administering an EnterpriseSMS system.
PREREQUISITES
Completion of course preparation materials, provided prior to the beginning of the class.
COURSE OBJECTIVES (ENTERPRISESMS)
The student should be able to:
- Define the primary system components and essential terminology of EnterpriseSMS;
- Describe how access is granted, and build access templates from organizational codes and job titles;
- Describe the interactions between the primary system components;
- Create badgeholder records and grant access;
- Use the Integrated Badging Station to create/modify badges and badge layouts;
- List the correct sequence of events for successful system installation;
- Define event responses and use them to modify system behavior;
- Describe the EnterpriseSMS message routing scheme;
- Customize alarm/event handling by security point;
- Create and manage alarm instructions;
- List EnterpriseSMS pre-installation activities;
- Use, and instruct others in the use of the Operator Command Station;
- Use device types to create configurations and describe the proper use of configurations within the system;
- Explain the use of device templates within the system and the features controlled by those templates;
- Describe the optional EnterpriseSMS Stations;
- Create device templates and set the characteristics of system devices using them;
- Define schedules and holiday groups and use them with scheduled operation codes in device templates to alter device characteristics;
- Assign configurations to points, and connect devices types associated with configurations to points;
- Create areas from lists of security points;
- Access system reports and generate them at the proper times in order to address system problems;
- Describe the use of special access features, (antipassback, multi-man), in the system;
- Use system utilities to start and stop system processes, clean temporary files, view directories, view processes, and temporary
system databases.
COURSE OBJECTIVES (OPEN SYSTEM CONTROLLER)
The student should be able to:
- Describe the layout of the Open System Controller board
- Define the OSC board components
- Define OSC capacities
- Explain the bsppp nomenclature used for board identification
- Install the proctective enclosure
- Install the power supply and power fault relay
- Make the proper power connections
- Install the tamper switch
- Install a battery backup
- Install the universal chassis
- Install the OSC base board
- Install an OSC expansion board
- Install the expansion ribbon cable
- Describe the interaction between the board and other system components
- Select the proper jumper assignments
- Select the proper board address
- Make the proper server connections
- Make the proper reader connections
- Install the reader power harness
- Select appropriate system utilities for diagnostic/trouble - shooting purposes
SCHEDULE
Classes are held at ICS Headquarters in Houston, beginning at 8:30 AM on the Monday of the class, and run until approximately 4:30 PM that Friday. Students should plan on a minimum of 1 hour travel time to either of
Houston's major airports. Contact ICS sales for information regarding class scheduling.
ENROLLMENT
Reservations must be made at least 2 weeks before the beginning of the desired class, and must be paid for (or other arrangements agreed upon) at that time. Users purchasing their systems from third parties should contact
that party for information and fees.
CANCELLATION POLICIES
Student cancellations are non-refundable if within 7 days prior to the class start date. Classes are subject to cancellation for insufficient enrollment up to 14 days prior to the class start date.
ESSAY-BASED WRITTEN ASSESSMENT
75% or better required for certification.
