Start ECS Station Processes

Services

The ECS station process monitor and communication processes are automatically started at computer startup.

NOTE:  ESMS Process Monitor starts the programs:  proMonSvc.exe, ecs_recv.exe, and ecs_send.exe

ESMS Process Monitor

The proMonSvc process started as a service os often referred to as 'proMon'.  This process starts and monitors ecs_recv and ecs_send.  If one of these processes dies, it will be restarted according to the privileges set in ECS Admin

ECS Console

The ECS Console is started by the operator from a toolbar at the bottom of the screen or from the Start Menu (under the ESMS folder).  The operator then logs in to the Console.

The ECS Console has two groups of programs that may be started by the operator.  Those on the main tab (or the Applications Tab) are the ECS processes that may be started by the operator.  Those on the Advanced Tab are processes used by System Administrators to control station operations or run the debug application.

All processes which present windows to an operator are started using the ECS Console.  Processes which do not show a window to the operator are started upon system startup as SERVICES.

The icons shown on the ECS Console tabs may vary.  The administrator turns on the icons for applications that are to be executed on the station.  Below are shown the APPLICATIONS tab and the ADVANCED tab.
