Bypass / Unbypass a Device
How to Bypass a Device
BYPASS
Bypass allows an operator to prevent alarms
from a certain device being displayed on the ECS. This is useful when a
malfunctioning device is sending identical, repetitive messages to the
SCOREBOARD. When a device is bypassed, identical alarms from the device
are erased, except for the oldest instance of that alarm. Once a device is
in Bypass, additional events received from that device will be discarded.
This is a TOGGLE type of a function. If the alarm
is not currently in Bypass, the icon will perform a BYPASS
operation. If the alarm is currently in Bypass (By), the icon
will perform an UNBYPASS operation.
BYPASS Procedure
-
Click OK. The selected alarm's
Device State changes to By. All occurrences of the
alarm, except for the original identical alarm, disappear. No further
messages from this device will appear until the device is
UNBYPASS ed.
How to Restore a Bypassed
Device
UNBYPASS
After a bypassed device is repaired, or is otherwise
ready to be brought back onlin, the Unbypass command is issued.
The device then sends messages to the system
normally.
UNBYPASS
Procedure
-
Using the mouse, select a bypassed alarm
from the
SCOREBOARD.
-
Click the BYPASS button. The
UNBYPASS dialog will
appear.
-
Enter Remarks explaining the reason the
unbypass action is being taken. Click OK.
-
Click UNBPASS. [Bypass is a toggle
button, it changes from Bypass to Unbypass then back to Bypass each time it is
pressed]
-
Enter Comments into the Alarm Comment Form
explaining why the unbypass action is being
taken.
-
Click OK. The selected alarm's
Device State changes to either the current state of the device or to
Un (unknown). Any events now received from this device will again
be displayed on the
SCOREBOARD.
